So how it all begun? This is a question that's a little hard to answer. On the one hand there are the facts, but when accompanied with the feelings and emotions we now share, the story becomes multidimensional. Each one of us sees the events a little differently, well that's only natural; like in any relationship that has only begun, we have also experienced the fear and excitement. Each one of us thinks that the other was the one who led and initiated but then again we also feel that each of us had to work hard to get the full attention of the other. Anyway, this is the version of the story that was agreed upon….

In the fall of 2000, Shuki had just finished his military service and I was visiting a mutual friend in Haifa, a city in the north of Israel. One evening we went out to the "Camel", a well known club on the beach of Haifa, that's where we first met. I can't say that we knew that evening that we would be writing these lines now, but obviously it was the beginning of something. Shuki told me about a trip he's planning in the States with his best friend Eran, and he said they would also visit LA. I told him to contact me when he gets there, so we could hang out. But I didn't leave him my phone number or e-mail… hey, he should at least do a little work.

The days have passed and I didn't hear from him, I understood it was up to me, so I sent him an e-mail with my numbers. He called me when he arrived in LA. It was Halloween so I took him and Eran to see the parade. Since they arrived in the city, we went out almost every night, but still he was shy and reserved and nothing was moving forward. Luckily Eran was there to open his eyes and let him see that something was going on. Israeli men…

Obviously we didn't know what will be the outcome of this relationship, I stayed in LA and Shuki went back to Israel to attend law school. We knew it would be hard but we decided to give it a chance and hoped for the best. After all the distance between LA and Haifa is only 7509 miles and as two people who like to be challenged, we wanted to prove wrong anyone who claims that long distance relationships are bound to fail (and there were not a few around us…). Since the day he went back to Israel, to the day I immigrated on September 2002, not a day went by without us talking on the phone at least twice a day. We exchanged gifts and flowers as a mean to soothe the pain of being apart for so long. During those two years apart we met in Israel and in Paris, and I even surprised him once on his birthday and paid him a visit in Israel. Since I immigrated to Israel we've been sharing an apartment in Haifa.

Last fall, on a trip to Jordan, he asked me to marry him, and here we are…
